Desolation
Mythical in folklore, colossal in presence. A pinnacle born from ancient lava flow and landslides of past. Crumbling basalt bled into the mounds of weathered verdant.
Norse in origin, The Old Man of Storr is a 160 ft tower of basalt rock that protrudes from the Scottish hills in the Isle of Skye. ‘Storr’, translating to ‘Great Man’, is said to be a deceased giant consumed by the land, with his only remnants being his fingers that jut from the earth in the form of stone.
This aerial photograph captures the peak of Storr from above. Exposing a shattered network of stark rock etched into a vista of vibrant fauna at the marvel's base. A scene of desolation and raw beauty, embellished with enhanced hues to give this unique perspective an otherworldly presence.
