Luminous Shores

Sandymouth Bay is a popular surf hang-out on the north coast of Cornwall. Backed by a marvel of cliffs rich in geological history dating back millions of years. Fresh waterfalls and claws of impervious rock protrude into the ocean.

I ventured to the slippery rock pools of Sandymouth Bay, intending to capture some long exposure shots of the sun setting over the Atlantic Ocean. After about an hour of numerous failed attempts battling with my tripod, and struggling to create a decent composition, I decided to call it a day and head back to camp. It wasn't until I began to leave that I accidentally stumbled upon this moody composition!

Pearly streams of water, dancing around the jagged sombre rock instantly caught my eye. Paired with the alluring contrast that the luminous, pastel sky provided, I felt like I was inside of a dreamscape. 

By using a long exposure shot, I was able to soften the gentle ocean current and wandering clouds to further enhance the composition's dreamy, flow-like qualities.
